MURDER CHARGE
YOUTH BEFORE COURT ASHBURTON TAXI CASE * (P.A.) ASHBURTON, Thursday Arrested late yesterday afternoon while skating at a rink, John Hector Mc-Auley, aged 17 and nine months, a labourer, was charged before justices at Asbburton to-day with the murder of Mrs. Wilhelmina Webster, fged .'36, taxi-driver. McAuley was remanded to appear at Christehurch next Thursday. The charred body of Mrs. Webster, who was reported missing on Tuesday morning, was found in a disused pit behind a house in Tinwald on Wednesday. Mrs. Webster's car had been found abandoned on Tuesday morning. MAORI REMANDED ALLEGED MURDER ATTEMPTS NORTH AUCKLAND CASE (0.C.) WHANGAREI, Thursday A Maori farmer, Koni Thompson, aged 45. was charged in the Whangarei Police Court to-day that oil March 14 at Punaruku he attempted to murder his wife, Mary Thompson, and on the same date attempted to murder Ngaro Moses Davis. On the application of Detective-Ser-geant W. R. Fell accused was remanded until Thursday. Accused was discharged this morning from the Whangarei Hospital, where he had been a patient since Sunday suffering from gunshot wounds in the neck received in an alleged shooting affray at Punaruku.
