AIR FORCE WEDDING

ANDERSON-WINBTONE The wedding took place at St. Andrew's Church on Saturday afternoon of Miss Bobbie Winstone, youngest daughter of Mr.and Mrs. H. Winstone, of Orakei, and Pilot-Officer Donald Arthur Anderson, R.N.Z.A.F., younger son of Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Anderson, of Mount Eden. The Rev. D. Pryor officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a Victorian frock of white marquisette, the bodice and slightly trained bouffant skirt being hand-tucked and finished with lace insertions. Her finger-length veil fell from a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a posy of cyclamen, carnations and bouvardia. Her bridesmaid. Miss Mary Sanders, was in a Victorian frock of zircon blue marquisette, and her coronet and posy were of carnations and cornflowers. Flight-Lieutenant Lloyd Parry, R.N.Z.A.F., was best man. A reception was later held at the home of the bride's parents, where Mrand Mrs. Winstone, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, received the guests. OEBEMOKY AT HAIEA VOLUNTARY AID WEDS The first New Zealand voluntary aid to marry overseas is Sergeant Gladys Janet Sloman, daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. P. Sloman, of Wellington. Sergeant Sloman, who went to Egypt with a large party of voluntary aids from New Zealand under the auspices of the Women's War Service Auxiliary a few months ago, was married on Mav 2 at St. Luke's Church, Haifa, to Major Leonard Whitmore Thornton, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, son of Mr. and Mrs. C- J. Thornton, of Christchnrch. It is exactly two vears since Major Thornton was farewelled at the Wellington wharf when he sailed with the Second Echelon. The bride was given away hy Colonel Stout, and the best man was Captain H. T. W. Nolan. The honeymoon was spent in Palestine.
