GALLANT TRAWLER'S ACTION LONDON, Jan. 20 The Admiralty, in announcing the loss of the trawler Lady Shirley (Lieu-tenant-Commander A. H. Callaway, D.5.0., R.A.N.V.R.), 472 tons, revealed that a U-boat which the Lady Shirley sank last October was the new 740-ton Ulll. The severity of the blow to the German Navy is further revealed by the fact that two experienced naval officers were on board T JIII. They were Lieu-tenant-Commander Wilhelm Klenschmidt, in command, and Commander Hans Heinecke. Lieutenant-Commander Klenschmidt was ,killed when the submarine was sunk. He was former torpedo officer of the cruiser Nurnberg. Commander Heinecke had been gunnery officer of the cruiser Koenigsberg before she was sunk by the British submarine Truant in November, 1940.
