WORKER'S CLAIM

ACTION FOR £3600 The claim of a motor mechanic who lost his right fore-arm in an accident last February, for damages against his employer, Winstone, Limited (Mr. Henry), was further heard by Mr, Justice Callan and a jury vesterday. The plaintiff, Paul Logan Shaw, aged 29 (Mr. North), sought £3500 general and £l3l special damages, alleging that the accident was due to negligence on the part of the defendant company. The plaintiff was assisting in moving an elevator at Winstone's quarry at Mount* Wellington when the weight on a rope lie was holding with another man became too heavy for them. The rope dragged his arm in to a revolving shaft and severely crushed it. The defence' was that the accident had been I brought about by the plaintiff's own negligence. Evidence for the plaintiff had been concluded when the hearing was adjourned until to-day. j j
