PARTIES AND GOVERNMENT
Sir, —Every year more and 1 more people become convinced that party politics have long ago outlived their usefulness. I suggest the following alternative method of election.
Firstly, divide New Zealand into 12 electorates, and the electors into six classes, namely, commercial, producers and professional, with employers and employed of each. Next, each electorate would send to Parliament six members, one of each class, and each elector would vote for six members, one of each class. On Parliament meeting, the members would select one of their number to be Prime Minister, and he would select two of each class, himself included, to form a Cabinet.
By some such arrangement as the above, every section of the community would be equally represented in the Government, and members of Parliament could get on with the business of governing the country, instead of spending all the time reviling each other. F. Potter.
