WOMAN MURDERED
POISONED POWDERS t ' LEFT IN LETTER BOX I i AN AUSTRALIAN MYSTERY SYDNEY. Dec. 3 Sydney police are searching for a man who used headache powders left in a letter-box, ostensibly aa samples, to poison Mrs. Vera Doris Watt, aged 34. Mrs. Watt, who had two children by a previous marriage, was married again this year, and was expecting a third child. She lived at Collaroy, a northern seaside suburb, with her two children, Her husband, a returned soldier of the last war, is a member of a garrison battalion and was in camp when he heard of the tragedy. Mrs. Watt was subject to headaches and frequently took powders to allay them. When she found a packet containing three powders in her mailbox, she thought they had been left as an advertising sample. The murderer cunningly dropped similar packets in the letter-boxes of the houses adjoining Mrs. Watt's home, for the purpose, the police think, of allaying suspicions if Mrs. Watt mentioned finding the powders to her neighbours. Police believe that the person who left the powders knew Mrs. Watt's habit of taking powders, Not long after finding the packet, Mrs. Watt took two of the powders. She died in hospital later. 1
