POLICE PRESENTATION
MR. P. J. NALDER'S SERVICES Completing a fine record of service in Auckland, Detective-Sergeant P. J. Nalder left last night to take up the position of officer in charge of the Police Gazette. Appointed to Auckland as a constable nearly 20 years ago, Mr. Nalder has been continuously on duty in the city with the exception of two and a-half years' service as a detective in Whangarei. A large gathering of members of the force farewelled Mr. Nalder yesterday afternoon. Sub-Inspector S. G. Hall, in charge of the detective branch, referred to Mr. Nalder's ready assistance to others in the force and to the excellence of his work. . Detective-Sergeant J. J. Walsh said Mr. Nalder was one of the ablest detectives he knew and the most able Court prosecutor the force had produced for many years. He thoroughly understood every phase of his work and had a great knowledge of law, particularly as it affected the police. On behalf of the Magistrate's Court staff, Mr. H. G. Whyte said the Bench had been impressed by Mr. Nalder's work. Court work in Auckland demanded very good co-operation between the police, particularly the detective branch, and the Court staff, and Mr. Nalder had always maintained the very best relations. A number of members of the police force also spoke. Mr. Nalder, who was presented with a dinnerset, spoke of the fine co-operation between members of the branch.
