AIR RAID PRECAUTIONS

BOYS AS BOMB-SPOTTERS SYDNEY CONTROL CENTRE SYDNEY, Nov. 30 Part of a full-scale air raid precaution scheme now being urged in New South Wales, an army of boys is to be recruited in Sydney as bomb-spotters. They will be posted in groups under older controllers at strategic points to observe the fall of bombs, and will be linked to depots. The boys will be trained by the Navy in visual signalling and other specialised work. A bomb-proof control ( centre is shortly to bo completed in Sydney. It will contain several telephone exchanges. The Sydney Fire Board will consider the employment of 300 women to supplement fire-fighting services. They will have classes for 10 weeks and be trained in handling incendiary bombs, as well as being prepared for duties as auxiliary fire workers in other centres.
