FIRE AT MANGERE

MARKET GARDENER'S LOSS Fire destroyed a wood and iron house occupied by a Chinese market gardener, Wong Keung, at Crawford Avenue, Mangere, last night. An engine from the Onehunga fire station answered a call to thfe outbreak about 9.30 p.m., but on arrival found that there was no vrater supply available. Little could therefore be done to extinguish the flames which had a strong hold. No one was in the bouse at the time of the fire, the occupier, who had been absent since early in the afternoon, returning after the fire had subsided.
