SWIMMING CENTRE
INSTRUCTION FOR TROOPS Mr. R 'Moore, chairman of the management committee of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was granted leave of absence for an indefinite period at its weekly meeting. A letter was received from the Minister of Defence expressing (hanks for the offer to assist in instructing: the troops in swimming. It was pointed out that the Government appreciated the offer, and arrangements have been made for Headquarters. Northern Military District. to discuss and arrange with the centre the most satisfactory way in which tlu Army can be assisted with the scheme. It was decided that trophy orders would be issued to club secretaries three days after the opening carnival, and that all trophy orders shall he liquidated by May '2O. The secretary reported that all clubs had been circularised calling for nominations for the positions of manager and chaperone for Iho representative team to visit Nelson, nominations to close Monday next.
