WORK FOR YOUTH
_J4; Y.M.C.A. ANNUAL MEETING The need for a common vision and high ideals among/young people in Empire countries at present was stressed by the Rev. C. W. Puncumb in his devotional address at the annual meeting of the Auckland Y.M.C.A. last night, presided over by the president, Mr. »• Caldcr Mackay. Mr. Duncumb said tn*3 quotation, "Where there is- no vision, the people perish*'" should be kept be- , fore all young people. Mr. Mackay spoke of the fine ■work of the Y.M.C.A. in military camps, saying that in many cases their huts were the only alternatives to the wet -call' teens. Although last- year the association had concentrated on war services, it had decided this coming - year to go ahead with its normal activities. Eulogistic reference was made by Mr. Mackay to the untiring work of the general secretary, Mr. Vernon T. Drew. At the close of the meeting a motion ► picture of the opening of the Lowry Hut in Cairo for the use of Xow Zealand soldiers was shown by Mr. »• JBriggs, who was recently invalided horn a after service "with the association ih England and*the Middle East.
