RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA

Discussion as to whether a letter received from the North Shore branch of the Society for Closer Relations with Russia should he taken in committee or in open council occurred at a meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council last night. The letter applied for permission for a public meeting to be held in the Gaiety Theatre, Takapuna, on a Sunday night probably before Christmas. Objection to taking the matter in open council was expressed by several councillors. Ihe Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven. said he was in favour of the matter being discussed in public. On a vote taken it was decided to deal with the question in committee. Permission was granted for the meeting to be held.
