FEANKTON OFFEEING KEEN BIDDING FOR PIGS (0.C.) HAMILTON, Wednesday There was a keen demand for prime hogget and wether mutton a?, the Frankton stock sale. Fat lambs again sold freely at full market rates, but fat ewes eased. A large yarding of all classes of cattle came forward, with values for prime ox, cow and heifer beef on a par with last week's rates. Medium prime Polled Angus bullocks made to £l3 7s 6d A full entry, of boner cattle maintained late rates. A small entry of fat pigs was penned and competition for all classes was keen. Prices for butter-milk pigs especially were in advance of those realised last week. Stores and weaners came forward in smaller numbers and prices were firmer than-those ruling at last sale. ADDINGTON MARKET [by telegraph— press association] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday The suspension of the sale last week because of the holiday caused increased entries at the Addington market to-day in comparison with ordinary sales. The market was affected to some extent by hot north-westerly condition, which have been almost, continuous in the last week. Valnes generally were easier. About 1000 spring lambs were yarded, mostly of prime quality. The market opened with values up to By a d per lb, but cased to Sd toward the finish. Freezing works open next Tuesday, about a fortnight earlier than usual. A normal offering of 3300 store sheep met a go«l demand for all classes. Ewes and lambs, which formed more than half the entry, sold well, best making to 10s. Ewe hoggets sold to 29s Id for open wools; several other lots, at 2Ss; shorn wether hoggets, to 21s; adult wethers, to 22s lOd. For 524 fat cattle of mixed quality values were down by 10s to 20s a head. Best steers made from £l7 to £l9 12s (id; good, £l3 10s to £l6; secondary, down to £lO 10s; good quality heifers, £l3 to £ls 10s; average, from £9 to £ll. Best beef made 36s to 39s per 1001b; heavy weights, 33s to 355; to 32s 6d; cow beef, down to 245. There was an entry of 5000 fat sheep. Wethers sold up to Is easier than at the last sale. With fewer ewes forward the market remained- firm for this class. Best wethers made from 24s to 275; tops, to 30s lOd; average, 20s to 235; others, down to 16s; good ewes, 24s to 20s 7d; good prime, 17s 6d t-o 20s; medium-weight prime. 14s 6d to 17s; light and ordinary, 10s 6d to 14s.
