GORDON BEATS RAYNER [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Thursday The Auckland professional boxer, Chime Gordon, gained a points verdict over Clarrie Rayner (Blenheim) over 12 rounds before a large house to-night to maintain his unbeaten record since joining the paid ranks and has won the right to bo hailed as the premier professional light-weight boxer of the Dominion at the present time. It was one of the fastest and cleverest lightweight- matches seen here. Both moved fast and showed brilliant footwork and sound defence. I\ay iter fought at his best, but was beaten to the punch by his younger and faster opponent, who used botn hands to good effect, although I'ayner's footwork and head weaving caused him to miss frequently, particularly with Ins right.
