FARM WORKERS' CASES
MEN FOR CHEESE-MAKING (0.C.) HAMILTON, Monday
"Since the season commenced we have made every endeavour to replace our officers by women, and at present, of our 87 herd-testers, 56 are women." said Mr. S. J. Sheaf, general manager of the Auckland Herd Improvement Association, in a statement before the No 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board today. The association was appealing for the postponement of the calling up of Arthur Christopher Thomas Marsh, herj tester, of Rotorua. The appeal was dismissed and the reservist granted leave until December 1.
Appeals by the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company, Limited, against the calling up of six assistant cheesemakers, were adjourned sine die. The reservists were Laurence Sydney Bennett (Hikutaia), Frank Charles Bonner (Matamata), Ben Holmes (Waharoa), Archibland Stanley Hughes (Waikakarua) Donald McGregor (Matatoki), Dudley Robert Arnold Coulter (Waharoa). Several cases of appeals against the calling lip of farm hands were heard, adjournments sine die being granted in most cases, with stipulations that they would be reviewed early next year.
