RURAL HOUSING

(0.C.) PUKEKOHE, Monday A report that the houses being erected in Franklin County under the rural housing scheme were now of a pleasing standard—in contrast to the first two or three—was made to tho Franklin County Council to-day by Mr. W. A. Peterson, a member ol the council, who acts with the county engineer in inspecting the dwellings before payments are approved. He said loans under the scheme had been made to dairy farmers,, sheep farmers, and a poultry farmer, The clerk. Mr. A. P. Day, reported that to date the. council" had authorised advances totalling just over £IO,OOO under the scheme.
