! MR. WILLIAM HAY (0.C.) WHANG AT?EI, Monday The death has occurred of Mr. William Hay, of Kaimamaku, at the age of 91. He was one of the earliest pioneers of the district. Mr. Hay was born in Dumfriesshire. Scotland, and married before coming to New Zealand in the ship Maraval. Shortly after his arrival he took up land in the Kaimamaku district. In 1913 Mr. Hay was elected as representative of the Otonga riding on the Whangarei County Council, serving for three years. He was also interested in improving educational facilities, and served for 34 years on school committees. Mrs. Hay died nearly 40 years ago, and Mr. Hay is survived by four sons and three daughters. There are 30 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. DR. G. W. SCOTT (0.C.) HASTINGS, Monday The death has occurred of Dr. George Melmoth Scott, of Havelock North. Born in London 77 years ago, Dr. Scott secured his degree at Cambridge University and went to Australia in 1901. He practised in .Kalgoorlie for five years and then came to New Zealand, commencing practice at Marton, where he resided for 12 years. Dr. Scott was a member of No. 1 Medical Board during the last war, holding the rank of lieutenant-colonel. He was in charge of the returned soldiers' sanatorium at Cambridge from 1917 to 1920. Following this he was in charge of the Pukeora Sanatorium, Waipukurau, for a short period. He then went to Havelock North, where he had since resided. His wife died four years ago. There are two sons and three daughters. MR. H. E. DODD (0.C.) GISBORNE, Monday The death occurred this morning of Mr. Horace Earle Dodd, a prominent figure in commercial and sporting life in Gisborne. Born in Thames 69 years ago, Mr. Dodd entered the employ of the Bank of New South Wales, coming to Gisborne as accountant. Leaving the bank 32 years ago, lie set up in practice as an accountant and had been associated in a secretarial capacity with many local institutions. He was secretary of the Poverty Bay Club for 30 years and of the Gisborne Racing Club for 20 years. In his younger days he was active in sport, being a representative oarsman and prominent also in cricket and Rugby. MRS. ALICE BOND * The death has occurred at a private hospital in Auckland of Mrs. Alice Bond, aged 83, a member of a wellknown old Auckland family.- Mrs. Bond was the widow of the late Mr. Erni Bond, who was for many years a member of the former Remucra Road Board. Born in Enfield, England, she was the only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Freeman. Accompanied by her parents, she came to New Zealand at the age of 20 to marry Mr. Bond at Silverdale. where they spent their early married life. Coming to Auckland, they resided in Remucra. Mr. Bond died about 27 years ago. Mrs. Bond is survived bv two sons and two daughters, one son having been killed in the last war. There are 12 grandchildren. MISS MARY MORRISON The death has occurred of Miss Mary Morrison, of Waipu, aged 91. She arrived in New Zealand on Christmas Day. 1806. at the age of five, being one of the party of immigrants who came from Nova Scotia in the brig Gertrude. For many years she assisted in various branches of church work under the leadership of the T?ev. Norman McLeod and of her uncle, Mr. Aeneas Morrison.
