MEDICAL SERVICE
Sir, —I note from your paper that Dr. Drury, president of the local section of the British Medical Association, advances as an argument against the Social Security Amendment Bill the fact that only 53 doctors will be available in Auckland for service under the Government scheme.
Is it not logical to suppose that only the same number would be available for service if the Government scheme was not in operation, or would Dr. Drury suggest that the work of the doctors will be increased under the Government scheme ?
If this is the case would not the public receive a greater degree of medical attention? And does not that lead to the conclusion that under the present system the public does not, possibly for financial reasons, receive the degree of medical attention that would be obtained under the Government scheme? Plain Bill.
