SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Sir, —Referring to the City Council decision to construct a central island at the intersection of Gillies Avenue and Owens Road, would it not be quite sufficient if only the cutting back of the properties on the four corners was carried out?

This is all that is necessary to greatly improve visibility not only at the above intersection but also at Epsom Avenue and Onslow Avenue and The Drive. Better visibility at these three intersections would, in my opinion, so greatly reduce the number of accidents that the cost of central islands would be unwarranted. Harry Hall.
