INTOXICATION CHARGE

A fine of £2 was imposed by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday on William Miller, lorry-driver and soldier, aged 44. who admitted a charge of driving a lorry while intoxicated in Symonds Street on June 26. Accused was arrested lit 3.30 yesterday afternoon. Senior-Sergeant Joyce said that accused knocked a boy from his bicycle, hut caused only slight injury. In the police opinion it was a borderline case. On behalf of accused, LieutenantColonel T. H. Dawson said he had a good record and bore a good character. He was one of the most valuable of the Army drivers, and was a married man earning €4 a week.
