LOCAL ELECTION COST

£6576 SPENT IN CITY The total cost of the recent municipal election in Auckland City was £6576, according to a report presented to the City Council last night by the city valuer, Mr. X. W. Kenny. The staff employed on election day numbered 1050, and the total wages cost, including the oilieial count and preparation of the roll, was £3178. The number of votes counted was 906,234, compared with 1,152,347 in 1938, and informal votes numbered 1612.
