COMPLAINTS IN ROTORUA (0.C.) ROTORUA, Thursday

Criticism of some of the meat sold by kotorua butchers and of the method of killing at the municipal abattoir was voiced by the Mayor, Mr. H. I). Dansey, and several members at a meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council, when the report of the abattoir manager was presented.

Mr. Dansey said the largo number of animals condemned for tuberculosis was disturbing, and ho wondered how the proportion compared with that of other districts. Tt was also an important question whether the milk supply was as pure as it might be, and ho thought that the council might investigate this mat tor.

Several members expressed dissatisfaction with the method of killing, and suggested that, steps should be taken to introduce more humane methods, as in other towns.
