DECREASE OF £55,000

£1,195,600 EXPENDITURE

An expenditure of £1,195,007 is provided for in tho Auckland City Council's estimates for 1941-42, adopted last night. This compares with an actual expenditure of £ 1 ,25( 1,783 under the same headings in 1910-41. The figures for the various accounts are as follows, those for last year being given in parentheses:—General account, £431,177 (£449,611); librarv, £2O,GIG (£21,3(32); hospital, £70,333 '(£83,815); interest, £480,481 (£499,229); water supply, £187,000 (£196,700). Rate receipts in the different accounts are estimated as follows: —General, £273,570 (£270,001); library, £15,544 (£15,000); hospital, £71,502 (£78,000); interest, £250,357 (£227,050). In the interest account provision is made lor the payment of £98,457 into sinking funds, compared with £95.100 last year, and £48,208 in exchange and charges, compared with £51,040. Allocations fo committees whose expenditure is borne by the general account are as follows:—Public Safety, £21.097; Parks, £59,108: Health, £13,180; Property, CI 2,599; Townplanning, £2755; Works, general. £191,030; special works, £11,790.
