PARADE IN CITY
OVEBSEAS SOLDIERS
PLANS FOR SATURDAY VISITORS TO THE CAMP A parade of Expeditionary Force soldiers will be held ill the city on Saturday. The officer commanding the Northern Military District, Brigadier P. H. Bell, D.5.0., who will bo accompanied by a member of the Cabinet, and b> the Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, "'ill take the salute as the men march past the Town Hall. Visitors will be allowed at Papakura mobilisation camp from 2 until 4.30 p.m. both on Saturday and Sunday. On Tuesday afternoon Brigadier Bell will inspect the men at the camp and there will be a ceremonial march past.
The parade on Saturday will not be attended by any ceremony and there will be no addresses. The men will be brought into the city from the camp and after assembling in the Domain will leave from the Park Road entrance at 11.12 for the march through the city, the route to be followed being the usual one along Park Road, over Grafton Bridge, along Karangahape Road and down Queen Street. Thence they will march along Customs Street East to the railway station and entrain for the camp.
Taking part will bo artillery, infantry and Maori troops, each draft marching separately in columns of sixes. The parade will be led by the Papakura Camp Hand and other bands will take part. Major R. Tilsley, M.C., D.C.M., E.D., will be in command. As in previous parades of this nature, members of the Returned Soldiers' Association will also take part. They are to line Queen Street opposite to and on either side of the saluting base.
