BEQUEST DECLINED
NO MATCH AT WAN GAN U 1 CHALLENGES FOR PEACE CUP The management committee of the Auckland Rugby Union received a request nt last night's meeting' from the Wanganui Union for a representative match with Auckland at Wanganui. It was reluctantly decided to decline tho application on the grounds that the union had already agreed that, under existing conditions, no tours other than weekend should he undertaken. Permission was granted the Otahuhu Club to play an old-timers' team tit Sfurges Park on Saturday next. The proceeds are to be devoted to patriotic activities in Otahuhu. The Waihi ltugby Union sought a ruling as to whether, as holder of tho Peace Cup, it could issue a challenge in the event of its losing the trophy. The union decided to advise that, in accordance with the rules of tho Peace Cup competition, challenges must be made to the holder prior to June 30 in each year, and that matches shall not be commenced later than the third Saturday in July. The holder could not lodge a challenge against itself. In view of a report that a junior player had lost a sum of money from his clothes left, in the dressing room at tho Show Grounds, it was resolved to take appropriate action. Ground officials for Saturday were appointed as follows-Eden Park, Messrs. J. Letlibridge, P. J. Sheehan; Sturges Park, Mr. P Arnold; St. Heliers, Mr. E. Watkins; Gribblo Hirst Park. Mr. 11. Starck; Show Grounds Bro. Lennard, Mr, 1! B. Hardy; Waikaraka l'ark, Mr. H. Thompson. It was resolved to change the venue of the North Shore v. Manukau senior match from Eden Park No. ;i to Waikaraka Park No. 1 at 3.15 p.m. on Saturday next. Secondary schools players are to be notified that a sprig inspection of boots will bo made by referees on Saturday next. Permission was granted tho Royal New Zealand Air Force Whenuapai senior team to play the Tauranga representatives at Tnurangn, on Saturday, Pilot-Officer G. Harris to act as j ma nager. The junior management board 1 advised that il \uiuld enter a barrow in the big Queen i Street parade to-morrow. the chairman. Mr. A. I.
