SOLDIER ATHLETES
TWO ON WOUNDED LIST Lieutenant-Colonel J. G. Wynyard, of Te Awariiutu, has received word that his son. Lieutenant J. S. Wynyard. who was reported last week to be on ttie wounded list, is making a satisfactory recovery. Lieutenant Wynyard is well known in Rugby circles, being a former Waipa and Waikato representative forward for a number of seasons. He toured Britain with the 1 1135 All Blacks, and Australia with the 103S New Zealand team. He played for the North Island in 1038 and took part in the 1039 AH Black trials for South Africa. Captain H. O. Jefcoate, who was recently reported wounded, is a former captain of the Southland Boys' High School first fifteen and he also played in thg first eleven. lie subsequently played for Otago University for a couple of seasons and represented it at the inter-universities boxing tournament in iff.''-', winning the wolter-weight title. For several years lie was coach of the Christchurch Boys' High School first fifteen, being a member of the teaching staff. He was one of Canterbury's leading referees and a South Island selector of 1 Diversity teams.
