DEATH IN ACTION FORMER SCHOOL-TEACHER Reported in the casualty lists published yesterday to have been killed in ■ action. Private Alan Charles Stuart, aged 25, is the youngest son of Mr. A. [P. Stuart, 22 Arthur Street, Ponsonby, ,who was until recently postmaster at Opotiki. Private Stuart was born at Hamilton and educated at the Opotiki Di strict High School. Auckland University College and Victoria University College, Wellington. lie held the degree , of Bachelor of Arts and the Diploma in Education. ... After teaching at the Opotiki and le Kuiti District High Schools, he was a master at St. Stephen's College, Bombay, at the time of his enlistment. A keen sportsman,' Private Stuart had represented Auckland University College as a boxer and Victoria University College as a harrier. He was in the Greek campaign before being evacuated to Crete. ANOTHER TEACHER KILLED SERGEANT H. F. SCOTT Reported killed in action, Sergeant Herbert Frederick Scott, bon of Mrs. M. Scott, of Te Aroha. He was educated at Auckland Grammar School and after training at Auckland Training College was a teacher at several schools in North Auckland. He was teaching at Cambridge at the outbreak of war, when he enlisted for J cervine. 1 KEEN YACHTSMAN'S DEATH I __ PRIVATE J. SIMPSON 1 The death in action of Private John Simpson, son of Mr. J. Simpson, of Heme Bay, has been reported. Born in Scotland 22 years ngo, Private Simpson came to. New Zealand as a child and was educated at the Gre\ Eynn School. He was a popular and active iViember of the Point Chevalier Sailing Club.
