MILK FOR CHILDREN

Sir, —As n firm believer in women holding positions on our public bodies, I was shocked and dismayed by .Miss Ellen Melville's attitude to the distribution of free milk to schoolchildren, as reported in your paper of Saturday. Milk, which ranks high as a protective food, i< an expensive item in the family budget. A family of five-—three children, two adults—have to pay 10s n week for one pint per person daily. Few families can aflord the quantity authoritatively laid down as necessary for growing children. Moi'lil'lt OK Tiikkk.
