SECOND DIVISION

ENROLMENT REQUIRED ' CALL ON MARRIED MEN BALLOTS FOR SERVICE [by telecr ami—press association] WELLINGTON, Monday The acting-Minister of National Service, the Hon. D. Wilson, to-day made a statement regarding the effect of a proclamation gazetted this morning directing the enrolment of the second division. "The second division," said the Minister, "consists of married men who are - natural-born British subjects other than Maoris, and whose ages range from 18 to 45 years, both inclusive. All such men are required to enrol forthwith, notwithstanding that they may have „ previously registered for the purpose of , the Social Security Register, or may have previously enrolled as members of i the first division. "As in the case of the first division, only men from 21 to 40 will be balloted for overseas service, while men who , are under or over these ages—up to 45 years inclusive, will be balloted for territorial service. "Certificates of enrolment will be despatched to enrolled reservists as soon as possible, but it will be realised that there is an enormous amount of work involved and some little time must elapse before they are all sent out. "A further announcement will be made when this has been done, and any reservist who does not then receive his certificate within a few days must communicate with the Director of National Service. Wellington. Any reservist who changes bis residential address subsequent to registration must . advise the Director of National Service within seven days of the event. "As stated previously," Mr. Wilson concluded, "it is not'anticipated that any married man will be balloted until toward the end of the year, and then men with no children will be called up first." PROMPT INQUIRIES MADE FORMS NOW AVAILABLE Particulars required by the Director of National Service from men to be enrolled in the second division of the general reserve follow the lines set down for enrolment of first division re- ,• servists. Application forms were available yesterday afternoon at Auckland post offices, and as soon as news of the proclamation became known numbers o{ inquiries were received.
