NEW CHIEF SCOUT
MESSAGE TO DOMINIONS The new Chief Scout of the British Empire. Lord Somers. K.C.M.G., D.5.0., M.C., has written the following letter to the Dominion Chief Scout, the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, who has made it available for publication:— "I have now heard from the Dominions and Colonies that they have appointed me to succeed our founder, Lord Baden-Powell, as Chief Scout of the British Empire. Would you very kindly toll your scouts how gratified we are at Home for this further wonderful evidence of unity in our great family, and how sensible I am personally of the confidence they have placed iu me to carry on and extend the great work of our association. It will be my earnest endeavour to preserve and strengthen the fundamental truths and ideals on which 'B.IV built up his family, and to widen its scope so as to embrace more and more boys in all parts of the British Common we a Ith."
