MENINGITIS IN NORTH BOTH ARMY AND CIVILIANS (0.C.) WHANGAREI, Monday _ Official advice was received this afternoon by the Whangarei Army office that all restrictions imposed by the Army as a consequence of the outbreak of spinal meningitis in the Bay of Islands district have now been removed. This means that troop movements and parades will now be permitted in the whole of Northland. This step is being taken because no cases of the disease have been reported for over a fortnight. For a period, troop movements in the whole of Northland from Helensville north were prohibited, but later this restriction was modified to include only the area north of Whangarei. The Health Department has also removed all restrictions imposed on the civilian population. DEATH IN WELLINGTON YOUNG GIRL WITH DISEASE [nv telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON, Monday A tliree-year-old girl of Lyall Bay has died in hospital from spinal meningitis, which has been prevalent in Northland. The medical officer of health, Dr. F. S. McLean, said all contacts of the girl would be isolated.
