WAIKATO MEETING

DAKK HOSE SUKI'ItISES I GOOD EFFORT BY KENTUCKY SUCCESS OF FLYING ACRE Four favourites, Black Majesty (win I only), Kentucky, Flying Acre and Arctic Dawu, were successful oil the second day of the Waikato Racing Club's Winter Meeting at Te Rapa yesterday, but there wore several big dividends, Dark Rose. Little Ruse and Roval .lay all paying double figures. ' The success of Dark Rose in the Waikato Steeplechase after his unplaced performance in the Melville Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase came as a complete surprise and he was the outsider of the field of nine, paying over a third of a century. Kentucky was responsible for a meritorious effort in winning the first division of the Te Rapa Handicap, and Flying Acre staged a return to form in the second division. Gold Spot drew further attention to his prospects in the Great /Northern Hurdles at Kllerslie by scoring very decisively in tbe Hamilton Hurdles after losing several lengths at the start. In spite of showery weather, there was a large attendance. The track was heavy. The iotalisator handled £35,710, compared with i £30,3!)- on the second day last year, an increase of £B3IB. The investments for the meeting were £95,909, against £70,725 10s last year, an increase of £10.153 10s.
