YOUNG MARRIED MAN
WASHED OFF ROCKS
COMRADES' EFFORTS IN VAIN Swept off a projecting flat rock by an unusually large while fishing at White's Bay. Piha. on Saturday afternoon, a young married man was drowned. The victim was: Mr. Ourry Banks, aged 24, married, road-grader driver, of Station Road, Henderson. Accompanied by two Irieuds, MrBanks began fishing from a ledge at White's Bay, between Piha and An«whata, at about 3 p.m.. nml an hour later when he turned his back to the sea for a moment, the wave washed him off. One of his companions, who was also on the ledge, held on to a projecting piece of rock. A line was thrown to Mr. Banks, but a wave entangled it in the rocks. A rough sea was running at the time, and. although Mr. Hanks was a good swimmer, he was hampered b.v heavy hoots and clothing and disappeared vcrv quickly. Searchers were out all da.\ yesterday, but no trace was tound of the body.
