[BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] GREYMOUTH, Saturday" A sentnaii, Mr. George Spruce, aged 57, narrowly escaped drowning shortly after midnight,. He foil in the Grey River in attempting to hoard the vessel Alexander. Me was found hv the chief officer, Mr. Collins, clinging to n wharf pole with one leg broken and suffering from the effects of his immersion. He was taken to hospital, and his condition is satisfactory.
