CRICKET IN ENGLAND
Commenting in London recently on tho cricket position generally, Sir Polham Warner recalled tho fact, that but for tho war t.ho English team would have gono lo Australia this winter. "What a tremendous nido wo would havo had, with Ames batting at No. 7. Wo only wanted ono moro good bowler, and would have found him during last summer. Tho M.C.C. is determined to keep cricket going in tho schools," he added. "Last season we arranged <lO games with schools, and all hut six were played Normally we have 200 hoys at tho net at Lords at Raster, learning from tho professionals. Last Easter the number dropped to 70. We will continue this coaching, realising that if the war lasts four year* our experienced players will bo that much older and wo will havo to depend on young recralta."
