NOT CONTESTING POLL

An announcement that lie will not seek re-election to the Auckland Harbour Hoard at the coming poll has been made by Mr. C. A. Barrell, M.P. for Hamilton, who has represented the boroughs of Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Cambridge and Ngaruawahia on the board since last August. Mr. Barrell was appointed by the Government to fill a vacancy caused by the death of Mr. R. T. Reid, board chairman. Mr. .Barrell explained that the war effort was making heavy demands on his time and he could not give the board's affairs the attention they warranted.
