AFTERNOON WEDDING

THORNE-GOWER BRIDE WEARS IVORY SATIN ATTENDANT IN DAHLIA PINK The wedding took place at St. Andrew's Church, Epsom, yesterday afternoon of Miss Nancy GovvVr, younger daughter of Mr. ,1. A. Gower, and the late Mrs. Gower. of Taupiri, Waikato, and Mr. Norman Stuart Thorne, only son of Mr. F. W. Thorne, and the late Mrs. Thorne, of Golf Road, Epsom. Tho Rev. F. P. de L. Willis officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely gown of ivory satin with long sleeves built high 011 the shoulders.. The lace yoke was finished with a Peter Pan collar, and the long, full skirt fell into a sweeping lace train appliqued with satin flowers. A corner of the bride's heirloom veil of Limerick lace was caught to the head to form a charming Juliet cap, and she carried a sheaf of pale-tinted water lilies. In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Nora Pool, who wore an attractive frock of dahlia pink satin embroidered with blue. On her head she wore a pink crinoline straw halo and she carried a sheaf of dahlias and cornflowers. The train bearer was Ann Pool, who wore a long frock of ice-blue organdie I embossed with white flowers, and a j dahlia pink straw halo. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. j Howard S. Brown as best man. Flving--1 Officer Donald Pool, R.N.Z.A.F., was I usher at the church, j After the ceremony a reception was | held at the Station Hotel, where the j bride's sister, Mrs. D. Pool, received ; t )ie guests wearing a stiffened black ! ninon gown and a large black felt hat. Her bouquet was of shaded pink flowers. Assisting Mrs. Pool was Mrs. S. Robertson, who wore a frock of navy georgette and carried a bouquet of petunia shaded flowers. MARRIED IN HAMILTON GILBERT—BRYANT The wedding took place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Hamilton, oii Tuesday afternoon of Miss Lucy Sylvia Bryant, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 1). Y. Bryant, Te Rapa, Hamilton, and Dr. Harold Henry Gilbert, elder son of the Rev. and Mrs. H. G. Gilbert, of Hamilton. The bridegroom's father officiated and the wedding music was played by Mr. E. IT. Apthorp. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming frock of pearl French satin cut on Grecian lines, and a silk embroidered tulle veil held in place by a topknot of velvet flowers. She carried a bouquet of cream roses, carnations and charm dahlias, and was given a floral horseshoe by little Cherry Annett and Peter Arcus as she left the church, j The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. D. W. Arcus, Miss Ruth Gilbert and Miss Bess Miuchin. who wore picture frocks of alpine green and Rubaiyat shot taffeta. They carried sheaves of pink tiger lilies, and sprays of the same flowers were worn in their hair. Dr. W. McFarlane, of Auckland, was best man and Dr. J. Keeling and Dr. R. Rogers, also of Auckland, were groomsmen. The ushers were Mr. D. W. Arcus and Mr. R. Fear. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Centreway Rooms, where Mrs. D. V. Bryant received the guests wearing an ensemble of pacific blue matt crepe with a hat to match. She carried a posv of roses in sunset tonings. CEREMONY IN AUSTRALIA WISELY—HAYTON The marriage took place at St. George's Presbvterian Church, Geelong, 011 December 28, of Miss Margaret Whitaker (Peggy) Hayton, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Hayton, New Plymouth, and Mr. Richard Arthur Wisely, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wisely. The Rev. W. L. Simpson officiated. The bride, who was given away by Mr. J. A. Dubois Williams, wore a floral frock of French organza, in tones of pink and delphinium blue. The bodice was shirred and finished at the waistline with a sash and how of blue velvet ribbon, and a matching short sleeved bolero. With this was worn a fine white straw picture hat. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bridegroom's brother-in-law and sister. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bowie, Aberdeen Court, Newtown, Geelong. Mr. and Mrs. Wisely will live at Hawthorn, Melbourne.
