MIDGET CARS
THE SECOND MEETING FAST TIMES RECORDED KEEN BROADSIDING EVENTS Over 7500 people attended the second meeting of the midget car and cycle racing season at Western Springs Speedway on Saturday night. The races were held in perfect weather, and close finishes were witnessed, victory being gained, in some eases, right on the finishing line. There was a general improvement on the times set in the previous Meek. There were nine entrants in the main event of the evening, a midget car race over 12 laps. F. Brewer, who won the race, made a splendid run in the third lap, and N. Maddaford was unfortunate to turn over. His car caught fire, but the driver was not injured. Brewer put up a fine performance during the meeting, winning the first heat and the final of the Butcher Cup, as well as the invitation Stakes. Some splendid broadsiding was witnessed in the motor-cycle events, and the most prominent riders were R. Seed and G. Mudgway. Results were: MID-GET CARS Time Trials, one lap, rolling start.—J.
