BUS TIME-TABLES
Sir, —Last week my husband and I had an important appointment to keep, and went down to catch the Portland Road bus at 7.30 p.m. After waiting a considerable time we were told by some people near by that the timetable had been changed the day before, and the bus would not leave Portland Road till 8.10 p.m. There was no choice but to climb the steep hill to Parnell to catch a tram — j making us, of course, miss our appointment. If the timetables must be changed, surely the Transport Board could notify people through the daily papers, as it seems impossible to obtain a time-table. I asked for one in the bus a few days later, and could not get one, and also rang my son to try at the bus terminal with the same result. Another thing difficult to understand is why people living say at MeadowI bank, Campbell's Road in Epsom, or in Mount Aden, should have to travel all the way to Synionds Street to catch a tram for Mount Albert. A bus could quite easily be run say from Green j or .Market Road. Remuera end. travelling through Epsom to Balmoral Road and on through Sandringham. This would tap each suburb this side of Auckland and save a great deal of time and expense, especially as trains are so crowded these days of petrol shortage. Rkmueiia.
