SHIPS IN COLLISION

DAMAGE TO THE BREEZE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLING TON, Thursday The coastal motor-ship Breeze was damaged shortly before 7 a.m. in a collision with the Union Company's tug Terawhiti. The Breeze was turning into the bay between Pipitea and King's wharves and was struck bow on just forward of the engine room. The impact was fairly heavy and the Breeze's side was buckled from the rail to the watorlino and probably below. The extent of the damage there cannot be ascertained until the Breeze is placed on the slip, an oil tank making an internal inspection impracticable. The vessel went on the slip to-night. The only damage to the Terawhiti was the cutting of the rope fender, which was left on the jagged edge of the Breeze's wooden side fender, which was cut in half.
