SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP AUCKLAND CENTRE TOURNEY RESULTS OF SECTION PLAY Brilliant weather conditions favoured the commencement of the Auckland Bowling Centre's annual open singles tournament yesterday, when five rounds of section play were, held on various local greens. Thirty-eight players survived from section plav, being those who either won their sections outright or who tied for sections, and these will go forward to the Carlton green to-day for post-section rounds: J. S. Martin (Carlton), holder of tho title, and A. Connew (Mount Albert), runner-up last year, both obtained five wins yesterday and go forward to inter-section play. Following were the results of section play:— SECTION A.—At Remuera Dick (Ponsonby), 5 wins; H. Tomlinson (Avondale), Turner (Carlton), 3 wins; Bishop (Auckland). LI wins; Munro (St. Heliers), Parrant (Mount Eden), 1 win. Dick won the section. SECTION B.—At Remuera Gifford (Balmoral), J.
