Story of Berries
An old gentleman called to settle an argument over a bill, which had been sent in by his greengrocer, named Berry, before it was due. After scolding Bern- severely, he said to him: "Here's a pretty mull, Berry. You have sent me a bill, Berry, before it was due, Berry. Your father, the elder Berry, would not have - been such a goose, Berry. But you need not look so black, Berry, for I don't care a straw, Berry, and I shan't pay you till Christmas, Bc-rry." —Copied by Minnie Goodes (14).
