The Stolen Ducks
A gentleman sent a present of nine ducks to a friend, and addressed the label on the box. "To John Smith, IX ducks." Three ducks were stolen, but the thief altered the label without crossing out any wor*d or.letter so that it corresponded with the contents on the box. How was the label altered ?
