WAGES INCREASE

EXEMPTIONS REFUSED DECISION OF THE COURT Two applications by employers for exemption from the general order of the Arbitration Court increasing award wages by 5 per cent have been refused by the Court. The applications were made in respect of the Auckland Pasteurising and Distributing Depot Employees' Award and the Auckland Milk - Roundsmen's Award. s on the grounds that the selling price of milk was fixed by. the Milk Council and could not be altered by the applicants, and that the increase in wages would impose a very heavy burden on the trade. The Court stated that the applications were similar to others that had been refused by the Court, and it was of the opinion that in the present cases an order for exclusion was not justified.
