SOCIAL CREDIT

POLITICAL ACTIVITY . A decision to contest 12 seats in the Auckland district at the next general election has been reached by the Auckland district council of the New Zealand Social Credit Movement. The council states this is in accordance with the declared intention of the annual conference to enter the political field. By an advertisement in this issue the council is calling for candidates for the 12 constituencies.

The movement claims that after a century of party politics the people's desire for decreasing taxation and public debt has not been given effect to and contends that the party system is responsible. The wishes of the people are of first importance, states the movement, and the members of Parliament must consider their electors before party loyalty.
