DEATH OF WOMAN
ACCIDENTALLY POISONED A verdict of death from the accidental taking of poison was returned by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, at an inquest yesterday into the death of Mrs. Marjorie Cockbill, aged 58, who died on September 15 after she was removed to the Auckland Hospital from a room at 23 Xelson Street, City. A labourer, David Magee, gave evidence that deceased was recently divorced. On September 14, he and deceased shared a bottle of stout. About 2.30 next morning he heard her groaning and lie then noticed that a quart bottle of disinfectant he had obtained the previous day was standing on the table. 4 There was an almost full tumbler alongside it, and he realised that deceased must have swallowed some, thinking it was stout. Deceased did not know he had the disinfectant. Hi had intended to clean the drains with it.
