Difficulties resulting from the "war had prevented many country organisations from availing themselves of tho society's exhibitions and lecture sessions, stated the president, Mr. 11. 0. Gross, at the annual meeting of the Auckland Society of Arts last night. The society had, however, just, received from the Carnegie Corporation a grant of £IOO for the purchase of reproductions of old and modern masters to be used in educational work. The following officers were elected: — Patrons, Sir Cecil ]x>ys and Mr. J. F. 10wen; president, Air. R. (J. Cross; vice-presidents. Messrs. G. Archev, 0. G. Adams. J. Weeks and 1"). J. Payne; council, Mrs. A. F. Whyte, Miss I. G. Eise, Miss 15. Christie, Messrs. A. C. Hipwell, P. Redwood, R. Tizard, H. Tornquist, and J. Turkington. Appreciation was expressed of the work of Messrs. V. A. Brown and E. Wadham, members of the former council.
