DRIVER FINED £25

INTOXICATED IN CAR "This is a ease which I can treat as an exception," said Mr J. Morling, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday, fining Henry Hayden Curson, motor driver, married, aged 31 (Mr. Trevor Henry), who pleaded guilty to a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car in Karangahape Road on Saturday night. Sub-Inspector Calwell said when accused was medically examined the certificate showed he was mildly intoxicated.

Counsel submitted it was a borderline case which warranted no .more than a fine. "It is about as mild a case as it could possibly he, according to the medical certificate," said the magistrate. "Accused was barely intoxicated, although his judgment was slightly affected." Accused was fined £25 and his licence was cancelled for a year.
