BOXING BOUT

The American, who had previously landed some snappy hard punches with either hand, followed a left hook with a powerful right uppercut which landed flush on the point of his opponent's jaw. Ho weighed "12st 21b, against Brander's 12st 111b. a fair disparity in the light-heavy-weight class. The aanateur bouts were not up to their usual high standard. A special contest at catch-weights for the E. G. Bridgens Cup, between D. Rolllnson, 12st 21b, nnd K. Sharpo. list 81b, was a very scrambling exhibition, characterised by continual holding and clinching. Tho other a.matcur matches resulted as follows: —Middle-weight: L. Williams, list 71b, beat H. B.
