HELP IN WAR EFFORT

LYCEUM OLUB MEMBERS ANNUAL MEETING HELD The war work of the members of the Lyceum Club was referred to by the president, Mrs. W. H. Parkes, who presided at the annual meeting in the club lounge last night. Tho club had undertaken to stock the Red Cross shop once in every three months and was also responsible once every three months for the soldiers' suppers at St. Matthew's Welcome Club. Members of the various circles had undertaken to raise funds to purchaso materials for the club Red Cross sewing circle, which met every Wednesday, with Mrs. E., J. Peid and Mrs. A. Stuart Oxlev as conveners. Two tables laden with garments made by the members for dospatch to the Red Cross depot wero set up in front of tho stage. A brief account of the work of the Ped Cross Society and the methods of despatching parcels was given by Mr. A. A. Harker, secretary of the society in Auckland. Mr. Harker paid a tribute to tho work being carried out by the members of the club. Mrs. Archie Campbell was elected a vice-president, and Mrs. Harold Owers, Mrs. Sidney Goldsmith, Miss P. Lindsay and Miss B. Rapson to the general committee.
